I usually don't like Fungus of any type but I'd hang these on my walls for Sure! :) The Third one in the first series almost looks iridescent. Did you do something with the lighting or post processing? Or is it the type of mushroom doing it itself?

I do not do much of post processing, what you saw are pretty much strait shots. It is all about the light and if you can control it.
You really do not see the mushroom colors or transparency till you get an artificial light source close. In the forest you are looking at the mushroom from the top down to the dark floor and the light is dim so you just do not see the same effect. Thanks for looking.

You've got a glowing endorsement from Ian... and WELL earned!
These are truly the best of their kind I've ever seen, too. It's the unusual translucent quality that the lighting technique creates, I think. You go the extra mile and give a LOT of thought to what the rest of us, consider perfect just because it's a nature shot.

(I used to refuse to shoot flowers for that reason.. thinking WHO can't take a FAB photo of an already amazingly beautiful flower!?? Nature did all the work for ya already!)

It's easy for an accomplished photographer to become a bit lazy once they know the technical hows and whys.... and to feel rather "unchallenged" at times.

You're an inspiration and set a fine example that there is ALWAYS another way... another perspective, another technique, another skill to develop... there is always a way to demand more of oneself and one's talent.

By "extreme" I am talking about the rainforest conditions.Tongass Nat`l Forest is very unfriendly to visitors while these, often tiny and fragile, mushrooms prosper. All photos taken on location without disturbing anything.

Those are beautiful. Fab shots.
