I Got a Lenspen

I got a $20 coupon from Best Buy, so I went in today to use it. It's not easy buying something worthwhile at BB for $20. I wound up with the Lenspen, neoprene case for my laptop, and a case for my iPad - all for $25.

I've seen members make favorable commments on the Lenspen, so I thought it would be a good addition to my lens care kit. Those goat hair bristles are very smooth.

I've been in that position a couple of times. Small BB gift card with limited options for purchases. The first time I got my wireless shutter release and the next time I got a micro SD card for my kid's MP3 player.

I just bought myself another lens pen this morning at walmart.

I watched their video, and it seems like the brush is for regular use, while the other end is for fingerprints and spots that are hard to remove.

EDIT: I just cleaned a "clean" lens with the Lenspen, and it turned out really nice.

What brand did you get, the original Lens Pen? I got a knock-off with a camera bag from Amazon and was not very impressed with the smudge remover end, although the bristle end works fine.

Yes, it is the official, original Lenspen, and it works great.

Hope you didn't test the brush on your skin ! Picks up the grease and oil and that transfers to your precious glass. I don't understand why Lenspen don't supply a cover for the bristle end.

Now you tell me! I kept rubbing it all over me so that I could get that ugly black off the pen and not transfer it to the lens!

No, seriously, I watched the video, and it explained about the carbon. I, too, was surprised that they didn't have a cover over the bristles. Someone could probably make a fortune supplying caps for those pens - or maybe not. :D

I have often wondered the same thing about a cover for the end. Guess the lack of the cover boosts sales of the pen!

I hope you haven't done it already, but resist running the brush over your hands to feel its softness. It will pick up the oil from your skin and deposit it on your lens.

LOL...I did the same thing. I was reluctant to put that black residue on my lens the first time I used it. I thought mine was defective...then watched the video.

I'd be very careful with the smudge remover end. That thing can pick up grit and hold onto it then use it to scratch the soft coatings on your lens. I use a make-up brush to remove dust and only use clean micro-fibre cloths to remove smudges. Actually I very very seldom get smudges on my lenses.

It's easier to clean smudges off a UV filter than a lens. LOL

I have three of them lyng around but I am wondering what the Hogs do when the felt tip goes dry. I thought of wetting it with a lens cleaning fluid but wary of experimenting with a costly piece of glass
