Don't know if anyone can help, but suddenly and for no apparent reason, none of my Topaz plug-in programs will load, either in Photoshop CS6, Elements 10, or in Topaz's own PhotoFX Lab. Using Windows 7, 64-bit, plenty of free memory, and up until the recent issue, all have been working and used for many months without a problem.

Been through three techs at Topaz so far, no luck resolving the issue. No other programs affected, nothing added or deleted from computer recently, same anti-virus software. All Topaz plug-ins simply fail to load, and yet all show up in my CS6 history panel after attempting to load them, and otherwise CS6 works normally.

All programs have been uninstalled, re-downloaded and reinstalled (three times!), same issue. Pathways checked, registry checked, and nothing out of whack.

The Topaz banner appears when program is clicked in Filters, but then disappears with no further activity, other than appearing in the history panel (or in Topaz PhotoFX Lab, the error message 'plug-in crashed, Windows is searching for a solution'). Windows is regularly updated, and all Topaz programs are latest releases.

Any ideas? Appreciate any help you can offer.

I'm sorry I'm no help,,,but it does bother me. I also use Topaz remask and detail, and have windows 7. I hope for two things,,,first is I hope you get it worked out. Second, I hope it's not common.

Thanks, skidooman, I hope there's a fix, too. Don't undertand why all of a sudden there's an issue.

As to the second, they won't answer me (I've asked several times...).

A suggestion....if you have a restore point where Topaz was still working you might try to revert/(restore) your computer's OS to that date. You'll lose all your MS updates but no data. If Topaz works after restoring then go and install MS updates incrementally checking if Topaz works after each update. Remember to power down and power up after each one. Yeah, it is a lot of time and work but that's the best I got.

Another thought, if you are using a Wacom Tablet their drivers sometimes don't play nice with Topaz. Topaz is aware and has different downlods for Wacom users. Even with those downloads there are times when Topaz hangs when using the mouse mode instead of pen mode. Easy fix for those times is to use the pen and then revert to to mouse.

From what I'm reading it looks like a software/driver conflict problem. Did you add any other devices or software? If so, uninstall the software and/or device drivers. Again, remember to power down and power up after uninstalling.

If UHH can't help you go to Topaz's forum.

Let us know how this turns out, thanks

If you still have your serial number key, I would suggest removing the program from your computer and downloading all over again, you may have picked up a bug somewhere and that should resolve any issues with the program.

Thanks, I've done that three times now, doesn't make a difference. Something else going on, but appreciate your suggestion.

Keep calling Topaz. They should be able to solve this. Go from tech to tech to supervisor.

Were the Topaz filters in place before you had CS6, like with CS5 for instance? If yes, how does CS6 see them? I think you said they are actually showing under filters in CS6, so perhaps not relevent.

Have you tried CS6 32bit as well? If you are having problems with one but not the other, then try pointing to the Topaz folder in C:\program files x86\Topaz

ISTR pointing to the folder that just had a bunch of shortcuts to the Topaz filters when I first installed CS6, but that was way back when the public beta came out, and my memory is not what it used to be.

OK, just had alook round and and found other references to pointing to the x89 folder.

Good luck

Haven't tried using 32-bit program, but yes, Topaz worked just fine with the 64 bit program. Don't know what's happened, as every other program and plug-in work normally. The Program Files (x86) has been looked at, but appears to be okay, the pathways lead to the files they ought to, but thanks for the suggestions.

If they haven't denied that this is a common problem, I think you have your answer...

Hmmm....when searching for treepusher's problem there are no applicable hits except for this thread. If it were a common problem there would be multiple threads on different forums. Treepusher's problem looks isolated rather than common.

The difficulty is to trace the software/driver conflict. With all that we put on our machines it is magic that they work as well as they do.
