How often does one get to see a Great Gray Owl? I was very lucky yesterday. It even flew right by my head. Almost could have reached out and touched it. Seriously, I was going to drop down and then it swerved.

I have never seen one in the wild, but not only did you see one you managed beautiful photos of it to boot! Bravo. 8-)

Wow...thanks Bmac. I hope you get to see one someday. I will say that this bird was not afraid of me at all.

Great shots,,really nice!! I saw one once on the side of the highway up by Bemidji several years ago. No camera with, but I had a chance to get out of the car and walk pretty close to it. Just stood there looking at each other. I contacted those in the know about these,,and was informed that they really aren't afraid of humans at all,,and they will let you get pretty close before flying off. Love those big yellow eyes!!
