Does it matter? You already ordered the lens and it's arriving tomorrow. You must have done some research before ordering and were satisfied with the results or you wouldn't have ordered it.

Good luck with your new lens. Show us what you get with it.

Thanks. I will definitely share some pictures. I did research and the reviews I read were all positive. I am curious though if any other members of this forum have the lens and their thoughts.

Wishing you and your family a healthy and happy holiday!

I received a similar reply when I asked a similar question having ordered something, and it is a most daft reply.

What harm does it do to ask others experiences regardless.

I have used it for weddings because I love the shallow DOF it allows and it is good in low light allowing church shots without flash.

Are you sure you need to lecture anyone about a daft reply after your "vet" daft reply in another post? You're giving Poms a bad name!

Would it not be wise to ask before one spends a lot of money to find experiences of others? No derogatory remarks were intended or meant.

I agree that it would be wise to ask about the experience of others if that factored into the decision to make the purchase. In fact it makes very good sense. In this situation I had already done extensive research and I also know several people that have the lens so I am confident with my decision. I created the topic to share my excitement. And I really want to hear from other members their experience with the lens as well as how they use it. What's interesting is that I hesitated to ask about the experiences of others because I had a feeling one or more members would ask why I asked if I already made the decision. But I asked any way because I do want to know.

:)

I've heard great things about the shallow DOF capabilities. My initial use of the lens will to shoot my son's basketball games. He is also playing volleyball in the Spring and I will use then as well. I've heard several people say that they keep this lens on their cameras all the time. Right now the lens that is on my camera all the time is my 70-200. I'm not sure if the 85mm will replace it; but I know it will get a lot of use. Merry Christmas to you and your family JR1.

I thought it quite a harsh reply and it seems to me that it's a pity you needed to hesitate before you asked, because of the response you knew you would get.

I am new to this site, and I have noticed several replies that had a definite overtone of harsness or even rebuke.
A pity I feel. Maybe differing cultures are the cause of this?

Merry Christmas to all.

Why don't you do a search before you ask a question then choose your own answers? That way you most certainly ask a better question, and not look daft at all. The same old worn out questions appear every morning in the inbox.

I do not have this lens but after reading some of the replays I thought I would tell you to have fun with your new lens and have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
