Taken late afternoon at Artist Palette a popular golden hour spot. There were many photographers there that afternoon. The longest lens I had with me was a 70-200mm since I did not plan to stop in Death Valley. Some nice guy standing next to me kindly offered his 400 mm. These shots were the result. The brilliant colored earth is due to the mineral deposit. For instance the turquoise color (I think) is manganese. The colors show much better if you click the "Download Button" under the image.

Wonderful! I like the second one best as well.
Superb shot, I also prefer the second one
Prefer No 1, gives a sense of size and distance with the shadows. Very good colours.
Both are great. The colors are very striking. Thanks for sharing.
I like the shadows included, it tells a story that the second one does not. Beautiful shots.
I have to say that that's a really great shot and my personal preference is to leave the photog shadows in it...it gives it an extra "cool" moment when you realize that you weren't alone.
