I recently bought the Sigma 18-250 mm Macro and have been having a hard time finding any filters to fit the 62 mm lens openings at most camera stores (eg Best Buy, Henry's etc)

I am in Canada

62mm has always been one of those "odd" sizes, but is still available in many filters from several manufacturers, depending on what you want. Filters are made to fit popular lenses, if a new lens gets more popular, more companies will want to make accesory filters for it. Online retailers are your best chance.

Just done a search on B & H Photo for 62mm filters, got 971 search returns. They are out there you may have to start getting them online. Places like best buy only carry the popular stuff.

And the only ones I ever saw at Best Buy are the cheap junk ones anyway.

B and H in NYC is probably your best bet.

Depending what size filters you have now, step-up rings might do the trick.

These are great, I have some and use them. But keep in mind it makes it difficult or impossible to use a lens hood. Just saying.

There's plenty on ebay Jim, the Chinese ones can be surprisingly good [i.e. They do the job well] but there's some rubbish as well. Do your research and check their f/b.
I've had plenty of stuff from China and delivery can be very quick.

There was criticism of Nikon for introducing a new lens that was not in their standard filter size range. Sounds like nit-picking, but I guess if you have to buy new filters to fit just one lens, it can be annoying.

I am also in Canada (Greater Toronto Area) and would highly recommend ordering from B&H online. Even with shipping & duty, they're often less expensive then anything you will find in-store north of the border. They also ship extremely quickly (I ordered the Sigma 18-250 Macro lens with two filters on a Sunday and it was delivered at my door the following Tuesday).

They also show you the amount for duty upfront and handle it for you (no annoying duty invoices in the mail a month later).

Jim,
I just bought the same lens, but it has not arrived yet. Tell me about yours, slowly,.....maybe that will ease my pain while waiting!
I'm lucky with the 62mm filters because I been buying and selling lenses for years, and have collected lots of different filter sizes.
By the way, my preference is to remove the protective filter when shooting; exceptions are the polarizer, and ND's.
