This old church, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, was built in the old community known as Comal Town in 1905. It is still in use today.

It is located in Southern Comal County on FM482 at Old Nacogdoches Road a short distance north of San Antonio.

Picture was taken with a Sony A300 DSLR using an old Minolta 28-85mm F3.5/4.5 lens. Settings: F7.1, 1/400, ISO 100, Manual Mode. Tejaswrangler :)

A very beautiful Church, Fred.
I bet the inside is as pretty as is the outside.

colo43, unfortunately, I have not been able to see the inside of it yet. Lots of history associated with the area. There was once a school beside the church, but it is gone. Thanks for viewing this picture. :)

That IS a wonderful church. You might try capturing it from the same location at different times of the year, and at day break or dusk. Does it ever snow there?

colo43, first time that I catch the Priest there, I will get inside to take some pictures. I have been researching old Comal Town and still need to take a few more pictures of the area. When I get inside and take a few pictures, I will post them for you. Tejaswrangler :)

Ernie Misner, it is rare to ever see snow down here in South Texas. I like your suggestions of taking pictures of the old church at different times of the year, and times of day, thank you. Thanks for viewing the picture. :)

My pleasure for viewing it! Try looking for some moody light then between rain showers. I bet you will re-visit this location many times....:)

Great looking old church. One of my favorites is at Panna Maria about 50 miles SE of San Antonio near Karnes City. Built in 1877 by Polish settlers.

jfrank, the old church at Panna Maria, and the other one a few miles away at Czestochowa are some of my favorite ones too. Thanks for viewing this old church picture. :)
