Not much of a "Birder" but.....

I don't shoot much in the way of birds, but I wanted to checkout the quality of my old cheap Canon EF 75-300mm II. I am kinda pleased, makes me wish that I still had my old Tamron 200-400mm f/5.6 LD lens. The tamron was a much better lens, but I am afraid that I did not know how to properly use it and never really was able to appreciate just how good it was.

not bad at all..pretty good for a non birder....nice catch light......a couple of nits.... crop the photos you don't need the feeders....and increase the shadows...it will give it a little pop...... JMO.........tfs.

I really like the feeders in the shots. On my rare sharply focused bird shots, I'm always torn between leaving in more scene (and composition) and showing the bird closer. My birder friend says she does documentary (as close-up as she can get) and I do artsy-fartsy:)

I see what you mean about the lens. Still a very good shot though. I like the vivid colors.

You live maybe 2 miles from me and I never get to see these birds!

Great shots as usual

I am so observant, I just realized I'm a next door neighbor, I should be able to see your feeder from my house. Keep it full so I can get some shots....

His other half showed showed up this morning... I actually think that the female is the prettier of the two birds as her coloration is rich and smoothly blended. This pic does not really do her justice as the morning light was a little weak for as opposed to the light that I shot the male in.

Still, this is a good photo. You are lucky in that the shadow on her does not obscure her coloring too badly.
