We in Canada have the toughest Gun Laws in the World but these shootings happened here as well not as many are shot at one time but there are several killings a year........Problem is you never know what will trigger anyone.....it could be the next person that walks in wearing Red Gloves is the trigger.I am sorry for all this the.... Children Never Hurt Anyone .....Never had a Chance at Life....
Tough gun laws, low murder rate. Canada is 1.6 per 100000 compared to 4.2 p 100000 next door.
Unfortunately, from my view anyway, these incidents appear to be totally unpredictable. Most are committed by young men, probably in the range of 16 to 25 or so. And, most are probably troubled with schizophrenia.
I am certain that there is an extensive psychological profile that has been done on all the shooters in the past events. What has that shown? What have we learned that would prevent future events?
we can start by banning the assult rifle- make sure no one can own a clip that holds 50 rounds etc. that will make a difference. for these people to be able to kill so many in such a quick way is one problem we can solve. then we need to make gun owners pay insurance for owning weapons that were purchased before the ban became effecitve - as far as crimminals go if they commit murder the moment they are found guilty in a court of law give them one appeal and execute them after that if the appeal doesnt end in a retrial- dont let them set on deathrow for ten or twenty years -

Wbgrace, you are absolutely correct, the children were innocent and did nothing at all to trigger this event. The mentally unstable person behind the guns was the issue. Here in the US people that should be able to communicate with other professionals but by law they are not allowed to so until this changes it will be an issue here irregardless of the weapon of choice. Which can be as simple as a pen or pencil.

Theres not enough unemployed politicians
Roger..an empty clip can be replaced in 2 or 3 seconds..whether 10 rounds or 50..wont make much difference...kids are defenseless against crazies..no matter what the weapon..

Connecticut has some of the toughest gun laws in the U.S. and it didn't help at all.
As i posted yesterday
the second amendment was written on Dec 15 1791
why not allow civilians to arm themselves with weapons of that era.As i see it a win win for all.No one rights violated, one can still arm oneself if need be. for example one deranged loser armed with a musket attacks a school, would most probably miss with his first shot allowing time to disarm him.
only a thought to ponder
The biggest problem is that there are A LOT OF GUNS in the U.S..
If you want to get a rough idea of how many guns there are out there just look at how many people you see out there then multiply by a factor of estimated ownership. The last best guess was about 350,000,000 Total. That would be 1 weapon for every man woman and child. The average gun enthusiast owns several firearms which includes pistols, shotguns, and rifles of all makes and models. It is often estimated that about 1 in 4 people own any firearms and on average firearms owners own 4 guns each.
Personally, I own several shotguns, rifles and handguns... So, I contribute to the total and compensate for those who own no guns whatsoever.

This has got to rank as one of the dumbest statements that I have read on this forum. Congratulations!

Because evil uses modern weapons now.
