I am considering making a blog for my pictures. I have been doing a few jobs on the side to make some extra money and the people want to have a link to my "website". Do you think a blog would be sufficient enough? I have tried to do one a couple times but never had to much of an interest because i did not feel people were looking at it. What is your opinion?!
I don't have a website, but I have a couple of photoblogs. I like them, because there are people all over the world who use the ones I use, and they can leave comments, etc. Plus, it's an easy way for me to send the link in an email for friends, family, facebook, etc, and if I am away from home, I can access my photos whenever and wherever. Plus, if my computer ever crashes, I have them on line. Check out photoblog.com
or you can check out my two blog sites:

Never really "blogged" so I don't have any knowledge of it but a friend turned me on to SmugMug.com.
It costs me $5 a month. I think I have a couple of hundred hi res pix there and I haven't run into any limits yet.
I have a signature in all my email accounts:
Want to see my photographs?
HLippe.smugmug.com
People actually look.
I have a blog at delawareviews.blogspot.com. I get hits but in reality the only people who look at it are my friends. Also photos can be easily copied so I have been advised to watermark or shrink the size, which I have not done. One nice feature is that you can set it up so that when you do post you can alert anyone you want that you have a new post. I have a couple of people on that list. In regards to a website??? I recently went to a photoworkshop given by National Geo...and the speaker said any serious photographer should have one.....Blog if you want but keep your expectations real. Good luck
My blog (in my signature) --- is just for fun-- BUT I have had people contact me through the e-mail address that is on it to purchase concert pics off of it and to ask me to do their kids senior pics..
I am not a professional photographer my pics and blog are just for enjoyment-- mine isn't embedded with any sales stuff.
Not for me, and to be honest when i review websites i don't read them.

if you have accepted payment for any of your photos, you actually can be considered a professonal.
thank you guys!! that really helps. I do candid family pictures for people which I do charge for, not very much of course cause to me its all for fun. But I am trying to be a little more proffesional with it so I can get my name out there. Thanks a ton!!!=]

Look carefully at SmugMug.com which is run by Amazon. You can self-create awesome looking websites there, upload all your photos into it to create galleries, and even do e-commerce sales of your shots that two labs can print and ship to customers for you without you having to do any of it yourself. I think it is ideal for photographers like you and me because you shoot, edit, upload and everything else is taken care of.
ok!! thank you! i have been looking into that a little bit! i might just have to do it within the next couple weeks!=]
