Effects I learned from William on the hog.
I really appreciated the diversity on the Hog, from Nikonian's macros to Gator's wildlife, to William's surreal fantasmagoria. I used to never touch my photos, stubbornly trying to capture what I wanted with just one tool. Lately, I've been trying the buttons and sliders in my PP program (Freestone), and am finding possibilities that are not present in nature. Opinions - something worth pursuing?
The first image - some minor adjustments and removal of phone lines
In the Colors menu, what happens if you remove all the Red?
Or if you took out all the Green?
Or if you lowered the Gamma correction?
I enjoyed these very much. I don't have much expertise with my Corel Paintshop Pro but I can sure get lost in the fun of applying different special effects.

Initially I looked at what you had done and dismissed it as "bah, gimmicks".
But then I did a second take.
It may well be "gimmicks", BUT, the knowledge that you get by playing with these things may help you to fix/correct/adjust other images better and with more control.
Any knowledge is good knowledge.
And lastly and more importantly - it doesn't matter if I do think it is a gimmick to do this to pics (which I do).
What matters is that you are happy with what you do. Explore what you want to do, experiment. Develop other skill sets and maybe even your own personal style.
Have fun.

thanks, Lighthouse - this is exactly the point of this exercise - to expand my (and possibly other viewers ) parameters of {what a good image is }. Thanks for taking that second look.
Now you are on a roll. You'll be surprised at what you find you can create.
The fear factor is over now ... go and explore your mind
we all get the straight shot but expand your skills it's fun
