Claro Search Removal

When downloading a program, I was given the option of installing about five progams that I didn't want, so I unchecked the boxes. Unfortunatley, that didn't prevent them from being installed. One that I am left with is Claro Search.

I went to Control Panel and looked for it to remove. It isn't there. I went to the gear, (upper right) and made Google my default searcher and removed Claro from that window. The problem is that I still have the two address bars that Claro prefers. When I click on the square at the end of the address bar to open another address space, "Claro Search" appears in the box, and a Claro Search page appears on my screen.

So, how can I get rid of something that doesn't exist?

You have to remove whatever program it was embedded in, and click to Remove All Components. I got stuck with the same thing once, it was a real pain!

And when that doesn't work, I should...

At least I was able to get it back to a single line for web addresses, but I can't get rid of the Claro Search box, and when I click to open a new address window, I get the Claro page.

When I do an actual search, it is using Google, so that's good.

There is no lisiting for Clara in Programs, and there is nothing unusual listed as being installed recently when I sort programs by date.

Do a Google search for "Remove (the program's name)."
You will find information there.
Also, after you go to "Programs And Features" or "Add And Remove Programs," you will see a bar at the top and one of the categories is labeled, "Date Installed" or something similar.
You can click on it to show installation in latest or earliest order.
If you remember about when you installed the program, or if it was the last you installed, that setting will make it easy.
Look for additional programs installed at the same time or just after, that may be the one you need to remove.
If the feature you do not like is in the program you installed, you may need to delete the program you installed.
Google the program you like and see if it is offered from another site without additional features.
Many excellent programs are offered free from Filehippo.con and Cnet.com that may work as well or better than what you downloaded.

Been there. Done that. I just finished a two-hour MalwareBytes scan, and that found only one minor problem.

As you can see from the screen shots below, Claro doesn't show up in the Add/Remove window, but it does appear when I click to open a new address box. When it did appear originally, I uninstalled it, and I've have done several restarts since then.

Have you looked for it by clicking "Start" and going to "All Programs"......if it's there, right click and delete......see if this works....and, go to "Control Panel", "Internet Options" and see if the link is listed in the "To create home page tabs" block at top.....if it's there, just highlight and delete.....

Been there. Done that. I even did a search from the Start button.

I don't know how it can keep appearing when it doesn't seem to exist anywhere.

What Is The isearch.claro-search Virus (Claro Search)?

Isearch.claro-search.com is often refereed to as iSearch, Claro malware, the iSearch redirection virus, and simply “Claro Search”. Claro Search is a dangerous internet browser hijacker (categorized as adware and spyware) which uses browser helper objects (BHOs) and configures host settings in order to redirect infected victims using the internet to their websites. In particular: isearch.claro-search.com.
Many internet users unknowingly suspect the isearch virus and isearch.claro-search.com as being a realistic browser helper object or website. For instance, search.claro-search.com looks and acts very similar to Google because of the white background and minimal appearance. Isearch.claro-search.com is not a realistic website and contains many trojans, rootkits, and viruses.

I sympathise Jerry, I cannot tell you how many times I have run into this type of thing...its frustrating...and makes ya crazy...

My advice is unless this is a must have program...do a quick restore and spend your time doing something you enjoy...

I started down the same road when trying to get Flash Player again. Didn't notice it wasn't Adobe's site - Got a box - "Do you want.." clicked NO and NO to another of the same, when the 3rd box came up I X'd out of that site, paid attention to the addresses in the Google results rather than just the heading and got to Adobe's site.
Good Luck Jerry, there but for the grace of God go I...

What surprised me is that I unchecked all the boxes that indicated I would get other programs installed, yet I got them anyway.

When I booted up today, I got the Blue Screen and then did a normal restart. That brought me to the Claro home page. I went to a new home page and clicked on the house icon to make that my only home page. I think Claro has gone away because when I click to get a new address box, Claro doesn't show up.

I also ran into the Claro problem. I use Google Chrome and I was able to remove it.
With Chrome, go to your setup page, go to extensions. Extensions will list all the programs in Chrome. You can delete it from there.
I spent several days fighting this thing before I ran across the fix.
