Alhaurin Fire in August.

A short time after I got my Nikon D5100 i went up into the mountains just behind where I live, mainly to see some of the thousands of acres of destruction the biggest fire in Spain had caused, fueled by high temperatures and high winds.
It was saddening to see the damage although most was restricted to shrubland, although later lots people were evacuated and a lot lost their homes and everything they had.
Fire experts reckoned that the main roads that run through the mountains saved it spreading towards the coast and highly populated areas.
Anyhow a few pics to let you see what had happened in the previous 4 or 5 days.
They had only just re-opened the area and were still putting out parts that were re-igniting, Just after I took them we were moved out the area and the road was closed again.

Thanks for looking and the comment, they were just tweaked a bit on the sharpness and contrast in ViewNX2 and one of the planes was cropped as far as I remember. They were taken handheld with the 300 kit lens and the first time I had used it, so quite pleased with the bomber shots.

Excellent storytelling. Sad to see all the destruction, but the earth renews itself, the plants and trees will regrow, and the critters will return.

Thanks for looking, apparently it has started regrowing now, although a lot of people are having trouble rebuilding cos some were illegal builds. The fire burned for another four days and they were fighting it on four fronts at one time. It headed towards Ojen and threatened to burn down from the high ground to the coast areas of La Cala and as far along as Marbella (the posh part). Thankfully the winds dropped and they got it under control, it needed 500 firemen a couple of hundred troops and volunteers, also around 300 planes and helecoptors were used to bomb it.
