I believe you can chalk it up as a success, MMC. Maybe not suitable for EVERY photo, but it works on these!
Thanks for sharing!

Not bad at all. Looks like they are a good first try. Not over done. The sunset is very nice.

Try these.

Never crazy about this sort of thing, but sometimes it works nicely. On "Davids" action, click on and off the layers to see what each contributes. Rearrange them and adjust transparency to improve the final effect.

I have found that lowering the resolution will give you less "illustrative" detail and sometimes this can make them more effective as an illustration.

Attached are actions (.atn) ... (they are not showing up as an image, but seem to be there as a download link appears- let me know if they downlaod...) you can add to the folder in Photoshop called "Actions" they will show up n the Actions palate, you may have to restart. Not sure if they'll work in windows- but they should.

On a Mac the path is:

Applications>Photoshop>Presets>Actions

Thank you. I downloaded your attachments but can not open them. When I am trying to open them I see empty photoshop screen. I have Windows 7. What program should I use to open this files?

Yeah Like I said, try turning on and off the layers. re-order the layers from top to bottom, as they interact with each other, and this will change the final outcome. See how the layers are set to work with the other layers and change that...

Try saving a copy of your image as lower resolution, then running it.

Look at the actual actions he used to get to the final by clicking on the arrow next to the action in the actions palette, it will drop down and you can see each step. go in and adjust them, then save.

Actions are a series of saved steps, you can adjust them... perhaps find something you like.

MESS WITH THEM! LOL this is a work in progress.

I never said they were better then yours, ( not saying thats what you meant) thought there might be something you can glean from these to add to yours!
