The Dumbbell Nebula is a planetary nebula in the constellation Vulpecula, at a distance of about 1,360 light years. This object was the first planetary nebula to be discovered; by Charles Messier in 1764. Wikipedia

Magnitude: 7.5
Declination: 22° 43.266'
Right ascension: 19h 59m 35s
Absolute magnitude: -0.6

Taken with an Orion Astroview 120, Orion Deep Space Star Shoot Clolor Camera, Orion SSAG 80-mm Short Tube, Celestron CG5ASGT Mount.

Here's a picture of the set up. Plus a Celestron C6. That's exactly how it was when the picture got taken.

that is a nice set-up . do you ever use a dslr ,with "t" adapter ? Also , of interest ~ do you leave this setup or do you set it up each time you use it. ifso how much time is involved setting up / tearing down and packing up ?
I'm impressed with the mounts strength to cary all that weight for tracking .

Most of the times I leave the set up together but not mounted. When I do tear it down I get it done in about 10-15 minutes including cabling. Seting it up takes a little longer due to balancing which is pretty tricky.
I have not used a DSRL yet as I have my Orion DSSS, but I'm planing on getting one this Christmas so I'll see if I do how well pictures come out. And yes, I was also surprise when I got some decent results from the mount with all that on it. Although no long time exposure can be acquired, let's me do between 30-90 secs. Without the C6 I have done 10 minutes without problems. Just that I don't know how to process galaxies.

hope you don't mind , these photos are from a friend of mine , he is just starting out and sent me the picture to adjust . I'm NOT GOOD with elements 8 but I fudge my way thru to help him out . I can't even tell you what he has except I know its a 12" meade EQ mount . these are the before and after photos, and again I hope you don't mind me adding to your post but thought you'd be interested in seeing this . . . JUPITER
