Have been using a point and shoot for years and playing with the settings and finally took the plunge. Now that I have my T3i I could shoot myself for not buying one earlier. I have traveled the world and captured it was the little camera....what I could have done with my current! I look forward to learning.

Welcome let me give you your first lesson:REPEAT THREE TIMES OUT LOUD IT IS NOT THE CAMERA THAT MAKES A GOOD PHOTO IT IS WHAT IS BETWEEN YOUR EARS. I guarentte you if you gave a national geographic photographer a kodak instamatic they would come back wuith better shots than someone who doesnt know what they are doing equiped with a nikon d-3. make sure you are familiar with every feature the camera has. sit down with camera in one hand and manual in the other. next go out and shoot post photos here apply what other photographers tell you, shoot some more repeat. Looking forward to seeing your shots. Oh the last thing needed to improve your photos face towards tokyo and repeat I should of bought a NIKON." :-D :D  :!:
Your message rang loud and clear...I sort of like my avatar pic and that was taken with my iPhone. :) My true love is taking pictures of lightning but of course our thunder storm season is coming to a close now...next in line is working some macro. I am off to Iraq very soon, so the camera will be going with me and I hope to bring back some awesome photos. Thanks for the advice.

Are you in the Military? If so keep your head down and check your 6 when in Iraq. Thank you for defending our country. Come home safe.
