In 1855 the explorer A. C. Gregory, who was financially backed by the Colonial Office to explore the area, sailed from Moreton Bay around the coast of Queensland and the Northern Territory and up the estuary of the Victoria River. Gregory's boat was wrecked at the site of Timber Creek. It is claimed that Gregory named the site Timber Creek after he had cut some timber to repair the hole in his vessel. The site of Gregory's camp , known as Gregory's Tree Reserve, can still be found to the west of the town.

mullumby is that your ute you get around in? The right sort of vehicle to handle some of the roads, where the photos are taken. And the swag in the back, the only thing missing is the blue cattle dog. My hat is off to you, lovely photos, of lovely places. With the text, detail you supply as well. Thankyou.
