I have a basketball photo shoot coming up and I have an idea I want to do for a pose. They are 10 year old boys and want to be tough so I thought about having the boys on the basketball court in their positions with arms folding maybe giving a little attitude with me on a ladder so they also will be looking up a little. I can't practice it so the day of photo shoot I will have to go with it but I am worried it won't look the way it does in my head so this is where you come in what do you think? Have you seen this before? If so link? Thanks

Here are a couple of basketball team pics. tradition is two pics, the standard and the fun. The teams love the silly one. If you tell them that there will be two pics, serious and fun. If no serious pic, no fun pic. They will want copies of the fun pic!

I have a basketball photo shoot coming up and I ha... (show quote)

I had a photo shoot at a basketball match recently and I wanted to use the pulled-zoom effect to put some action into the frozen moment of jumping for the ball. Of course, these zoomed lens effects need a long exposure of about 1/15 of a second... so what to do?
I got over this by using an old film camera body to take the shots on slide film. Then I put the resulting transparencies into a slide copier that had a zoom function. I zoomed the picture while copying it and got the moving zoom photos below.

Thanks for the ideas we usually do the two pics one serious and one silly. And they usually like the silly one better it is more fun. And sometimes I can use the promise if a silly to get a little cooperation out of some clients. But I wanted to do something different break away from them standing close some on one knee and such and I thought it would be cool for the court to set as the backdrop I am really worried with them not standing beside each other and space out on one side of the court the composition will be off.

I like your idea, but I think if they are in their positions they will be spread out too much. Keep the idea,,bring them closer together. I would forget about them being in their positions. Maybe just one of the players holding the ball. You could lay on the ground and shoot up,,with the net in the background on top of the group,,,that will make them look larger than life. I don't know if I would cross all their arms,,,break it up a bit for variety. No matter what you do,,,good luck!!!!
