HOW TO DEAL WITH A HORNET'S NEST

You can destroy it, or steer clear. Destroying is a huge commitment, but the long term benefit is obvious. Steering clear has short term benefits, but results in an expansion of the nest, even creating new nests, and the number of stings just keeps growing.

As Bush turned over the presidency to Obama, our strategy in the mideast changed from destroying to steering clear. Combat troops were withdrawn from Iraq, and many Americans agreed with this change. Now we are starting to see the result - the Benghazi attack, a revolution in Syria (with potential use of chemical weapons which the democrats say don't exist), a near-revolution in Egypt, and Iran moving toward nuclear weapons.

The administration's response? Benghazi swept under the rug. As for Syria, at an Aug. 20 news conference, Obama said “A red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around..." He warned of consequences. But now after reports that chemicals have been moved around, and mixed for use as weapons, Obama’s “red line” appears to have shifted. Now there will be consequences only after the fact, if such chemicals are "used" and thousands lie dead.

These troublemakers in the Mideast understand that America is no longer a serious threat to their activities, that America is now "steering clear". Some of you may think that's ok, but we WILL have to deal with the consequences.

How long do you want us to stay to police their country and when are you willing to leave to help them?

Until things are stable. And if we have a continuing interest for security reasons, then continuing. How long did we have a presence in Europe after WW2? It certainly does appear that a mere presence, along with an official doctrine of "WE MEAN BUSINESS", goes a long way to keep control.

I was just at Costco today. On the way out, a lady was checking our purchase against the receipt. We all know she couldn't check every item, but the mere act is sufficient to keep theft to a minimum. Cheap and effective.

Never is easy, like I said in the first post. Brings back memories of our first push into Iraq, when nearly all Americans were hung ho, go get Sadam. Until they realized it doesn't stop after seven days.

Why are we still in Germany? Italy, Japan? Korea?
Obama "ending" the war by picking up his ball and going home does not END any war. I simply gives the muslim terrorist scumbags time to regroup and continue the war at a time and place convenient to them.
We are already seeing the fruits of this administrations labor. Arab Spring, Benghazi, and surely more to come.
The philosophy of this president to call the Fort Hood massacre, by a radical muslim scumbag "work place violence" pretty much spells out how clueless this guy is.

Here is still another Brilliant idea ................

http://joshuapundit.blogspot.com/2011/07/obama-administration-to-sell-125-abrams.html

Obama Administration To Sell 125 Abrams Battle Tanks To Egypt and Muslim Brotherhood

The Obama Administration has determined that it's a great idea to sell Egypt 125 M1A1 Abrams battle tanks. Yes, we're selling offensive weaponry to a country where the situation could be described as 'fluid', no one really knows who will end up being in charge from week to week, and the popular consensus is for abrogating Egypt's peace treaty with Israel.

The deal is part of a $1.3 billion package that includes associated weapons, equipment, parts, training and logistical support. Since Egypt is essentially bankrupt, that cost is going to be borne by the American taxpayer. And the deal calls for a portion of the materials to be be produced in Egypt, so we're not even getting the benefit of putting a few Americans to work.

Egypt is a country unable to feed it's eighty million population, yet the US is 'selling' offensive weaponry like the Abrams tanks, 24 F-16 fighter jets, Hellfire missiles, Harpoon antiship missiles, TOW anti-tank missiles, Chinook transport helicopters and Apache attack helicopters.

One wonders who these armaments are designed to 'defend' against, since Egypt has no hostile states on its borders. Unless of course, come the September elections, a new president backed by a Muslim Brotherhood controlled parliament takes over and declares Israel a hostile state. In that case, this weaponry is going to be turned against Israel, supposedly a US ally!

This genuinely stupid deal still needs to be approved by Congress. Get busy and call, e-mail and fax your representatives. Aside from the fact that we shouldn't be subsidizing possible Egyptian aggression against Israel, we can't afford it.

We should have never gone to Iraq to start with, we would be better off and most of them would be. No al qaeda there before we came.
