maybe a mosquito larve

i couldnt find any bugs so i decided to shoot a dew drop in a spider web.i noticed some thing swimming i one of the drops.(should have used a tripod) anyway i it would only come into focus every now and then as it kept swimming around in the drop.i dont know how i could have got a better pic? tom

This is pretty good for an "in situ" opportunity. Slightly wicking away a bit of water would have reduced swimming area, but would have effected overall appearance.

I suspect that this is not a mosquito larva, but a round worm (nematode), or a parasitic flat worm (trematoda):

yuk,i prefer mosquito larva 8-)

thanks guys! it was really cool to see something swimming in a dewdrop in a spider web.i'm new to photography and macro,2 or 3 years (thats new) but i have seen so much that i would never noticed befor.tom

That thing is why you don't drink pond water, all the horrible thing in there. I watch the series "The Monsters Within Us" it shows how these almost microscopic critters invade our bodies, and make us very sick, and even kill us. You photo is probably one of the best macros I've seen so far. You have excellent luck just to see this critter, and skill to photograph it for us to see. Big Well Done.
