Canon response to D800

I'm getting ready to buy either a Canon 1DX or a 5DIII. I now have a 5D and a 5DII. That's a tough enough decision if I then find out in 6 months that Canon has a high MP camera coming out like the D800. I shoot mainly widlife with some emphasis on birds. That frequently means that cropping is necessary, especially BIF. The fast shooting of the 1DX has my interest. Has anyonoe heard about any Canon plans to meet the D800?

No but I just dropped a big wad of cash on my new 5dmkIII and I'll be upset if they drop the price because of a newer one coming out

Something newer and better is ALWAYS going to come out.
Yes you can wait until something better comes out because it surely will.
But just because something better comes out doesn't make the current crop of cameras do any less.
Ask yourself - what is it about the 1DX & 5D3 that is inadequate for what you want to do?
If they are inadequate then they are inadequate, if they aren't they aren't.

I have heard rumors about a 46mp from Canon. I don't know if this is true, but I love my 5Dlll & wouldn't want to have that many megapixels. The IDX would be even better except for the added weight. Bab

Canon Rumors reports everything that is at least half credable

I believe the 46MP camera article was a spoof. I've checked Canon rumors a few times lately and it is silent.

Don't wish for too much. I am a Nikon shooter and use both a D800 and D4. The D800, while a high megapixel master, has a lower frame rate and max number of rapidly acquired images than you usually want for wildlife photograpy.

Not to mention those large (did I mention LARGE?) files will bog down your computer. I even bought a new computer just to use for my photography and I have to regularly remove all the files or it runs slower than slow. Still -- I LOVE my D800 and the improved quality I get from it.

You think you dropped a wad of cash on a 5D Mk III? Check out the price of a 1DX! Now that's a wad of cash!
