After so much discussion on the dust sensor problem with the D600 I am wondering if this problem is still presenting itself with the newer production series. I owned one of the problem models and returned for a refund. I would love to buy again but want to be sure the problem has been solved. Would love to hear from D600 owners.
I spoke to my dealer just Thursday, he said they have not had any issues of more than 20 bodies sold...when I first asked them about the problem about a month or so ago, his comment "wait...don't buy a first off the assembly line item" although I'm sure they would sell you one if you so wish to take that chance. I will wait for awhile or go for the 800 as I originally had planned but decided to go with the D600 and put the saved $$$ toward glass...I have to much invested in glass to even consider changing brands as some have suggested, be it sarcastically or not...I'm confident Nikon will fix this problem.
D5000 had recall, D7000 had oil spots Both are clasics today. Every car maker has had recalls (although a lot more pieces to a car than a camera). No reason to give up on Nikon

But they haven't "recalled" or even acknowledged the problem.
Nikon did not have a formal recall on the D7000 either. Does anybody know the procedure for recall, is it a numbers game(when 20% have problems) or the actual problem (Camera turning off as in the D5000, or worse, sensors leaking toxic substances)

Exactly. I'm glad there's a voice of reason on this board. I think half of the D600 haters are just mad they don't have one. The other half, have a legit point, but a company is going to operate to ensure the best profits for themselves, that's capitalism right? It will be fine.
