A town councillor contacted me asking for a selection of images to be used ( if selected) by a company the town has hired to use for tourism advertising, town branding etc. I sell a few of these pictures in local bistros and a gift store. Anyone have any idea of what I should get paid for commercial use of an image?

There is a professional photographer here where I live. According to his website, his pricing is based competitively and he uses "fotoquote" to set his prices.

It may be worth looking into this.

Thanks for the link to cadroc I think it may help me quite a bit. We live in a small town of about 5000 and I am pretty sure the company looking for images for the promotion of the town comes from a city of over a million so don't really want not to be paid fairly is any images are used. Again thanks to all for the input. Merry Christmas to all.

at a dollar ach, you have to sell 1 million prints to make your first million. Try $1 million each, then you only have to sell one!
