Now that we gotten the 1.4 vs 1.8 out of the way. (I what the 1.8 nikon). So my Question is Which would be the best all around lens on my D60 a D 0r G lens?

You'll be needing the "G" lens, as it contains the motor for the autofocus function; you're camera body does not contain an autofocus motor. If you're going to focus manually, it doesn't matter which lens you get.
Good luck, and have fun!

Thanks Danilo . I'm kind of swayed toward the D because of the cost but I might go with the G but I haven't found one for the DX body. Is their a DX lens in the G version?

There is no DX version...it's the same lens for DX or FX (full-frame).
But if you want autofocus you will need the "G" version.

Nice to get the G version because it will have autofocus and will always work on whatever body you buy in the future.......
