Allan, I have an SD14 which gets pretty sharp pics at 14 Megapixs. Is the SD1 three times as sharp with it's 46 Megapixals? Twice wouldn't be bad at all. Is the industry just getting into a Megapix race like the auto industry did with horse power? I've had Sigma cameras and lenses for about 8 years or so and like them. Prior to that I used a Leica M3 that I got at the Army PX in Augsburg, D'Land.

Cheers,

Robin

Sigma SD1

No, it's not a 45MP or even a 30MP camera, as some claim, but it does out-resolve several 24MP cameras on large prints due to its lack of an AA filter.

It is the way Sigma built the chip that makes it possible to "state" 45mp, but in a direct comparison to all other cameras it is not.

Hi yes i think it is much sharper than the sd14, at least twice if not more, (i still have 2 sd14s, one of the main reasons for getting the SD1 though apart from it having the 46mp, was i have quite a large selection of Sigma lenses, so therefore thought i don't have to buy anymore lenses. so in the long run i have saved money, by not changing camera makes. regards Allan

Hi Thanks, I stand corrected then, in my defence, on some of the literature i have read that sigma published, they do state it is 46 mp,.

i am an amateur photographer i bought the camera because i was used to using Sigma cameras, (not because of its mega pixels), owning 2 Sigma SD14 cameras and about 20 sigma lenses, it was more cost effective to stick with Sigma.

So far i haven't been disappointed, mind you i can not compare because I've never used any other make. regards Allan
