I took this photo just after sunrise on Friday, November 30, 2012. I was trying to catch the moon setting, but I was a day late. The moon was still high above the horizon at sunrise on that day.
I was about two miles to the east of the Flatirons, on the top level of a parking garage that gave me a very good unobstructed view.
I shot this with my D700 and an effective focal length of 550mm (400mm +1.4X teleconverter), on a tripod with cable release. Effective aperture was f/5.6, aperture preferred, ISO 800. The shutter speed was 1/500 sec, barely short enough for the focal length.
Fifteen minutes after I took this photo, the sun disappeared behind a cloud bank off to the east.
Minimal PP of the RAW image in PSE10, and a very slight frop.
The golden hour, nice shot.
I like the band of trees through the middle. Nice shot.
