Heyyyyyy!!!!!!Mr. Wilson----Did not know that, funny nothing was ever said about it during the twin towers. Thanks for the little piece of History.
How about Movie-Tone News (film). It was a foggy day. This 81 yr old remembers.
Yes, I distinctly remember hearing that news on the radio that morning. I did not know that 14 people died though.
I also remember about the woman on the elevator although I didn't know the results. Now, after 67 years I glad she survived.
Did you also know that an Airliner ( I believe it was a DC-6) crashed into a skyscraper in NYC ? The planes tail section remained intack, fell to the streets below... One person survied, a young teenage boy, but later died of injuries... Do not remember how many were killed....
Polk's model airplane store was a couple of blocks away and had parts of the plane land on their roof. The article says jet fuel ignited,a bit of a goof as the B25 had radial piston engines that used avgas.
I knew it, not old enough to remember it, did read about the photog that took the famous picture, Bob.
My Dad was working in a machine shop nearby and related the story many years ago...
Amazing what you learn by just looking here and there on a computer.

[quote=MisterWilson]How many of you have known that a military plane crashed into the NYC Empire State Building?
And of course we all remember when the Japanese bombed Cape Blanco, Oregon; Shelled the oil refinery at Santa Barbara, CA as well as Fire Bombing (balloons) in
Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Michigan[2] and Iowa, as well as Mexico and Canada. I am just sure that is taught in the history classes in our schools...What, no history classes?!!
I was wondering about that "jet fuel" business too. Some people never get their stories correct.
I was on T.A.D. Orders to the Navy Yard in Bayonne, New Jersey when the crash occured. The fog where we were was so thick that morning that we couldn't even see across the street.

Oh, you forgot, in your wild wanderings, about how the German Air Force bombed all of the major East Coast cities, and reaching as far as Chicago, Memphis, Dallas, and how their submarines sank boats in Lake Pontchartrain.

I am well aware of the incendiary balloons but also know they were a flop and caused very very few fires.
The Oregon bomb and refinery shelling also are documented in our west coast WW11 history, I am also aware of the presence of German subs and their sinking of ships along the east coast - but never in my memory do I recall any German bombers striking the USA mainland.
Please enlighten me when & where this happened.
