Just Setting out for a long distance drive and.......
Just Setting out for a long distance drive and....... and a Face Book friend sent this. I guess the message is very clear, DONT DRIVE AND TEXT. They found the cell phone in text mode, he was busy sending a text. He never got to read it though, his head was on the back seat apparently.
Nasty Photograph but maybe might help every UGLY person to think twice when tempted.
Have a great weekend
Ian
Thanks to the author for sending it to me and scaring the bejeebers out of me!

A very sobering image, and since there is no backseat in that car one can only wonder where the head ended up.

Ian....A truly horrifying scene..but necessary as a warning to all. Thanks for posting. My husband was driving when shunted from behind into the back corner of a truck. It was a woman using a mobile phone. I remember the scene well when I arrived. Luckily he wasn't badly hurt but he's not as agile as he used to be. So I'm with you on your feelings about people paying full attention when driving.
Someone elses car maybe ! The head thing was a press report. Nasty nyway. What car was it?

I looked this story up on google. It is from at July 28, 2005 accident.
The story was in New Jersey's second largest newspaper, "The Record" and placed on July 29, 2005. A 58 year old man was driving the corvette on Route 287. There was no mention of texting.
I checked on it because my husband writes weekly safety articles and we had some interest in it.
Although it appears people have manipulates this particular information, texting and driving still puts your life at risk.

Here's the original story as sent to me. Maybe one of the Corvette enthusiasts on the forum would know but assuming the car was a year old is that tail end of an 8 year old Corvette. It's totally irrelevant anyway but interesting if you are into that sort of thing.

A very unnecessary death on two counts. Texting while driving is an example of terminal stupidity.
Failure of politicians to legislate standard bumper heights is criminal neglect.
Here is the report, picture as well that you wrote about!
http://wafflesatnoon.com/2012/08/01/is-this-corvette-crash-photo-a-result-of-texting-while-driving/Hi again moffie100. One thing as well, I used to be a safety instructor and I don not know about other states but in Florida it is a violation not only to smoke near a gas pump but is also illegal to use a cell phone at a gas pump, there is a notice on all pumps here since phones and other electronic devises can ignite gas fumes. I however see it constantly, people pumping gas with one hand and chatting on the phone! Crazy ! Goodnight!!

The no smoking law is a good one. The no cell phones is not based on science but on conjecture.
No cell phone has ever cause medical equipment to malfunction. No cell phone has crashed a plane and I don't think a cell phone could ignite gasoline vapours.
That said, why do people feel they have to be connected every minute of their waking life? If they feel that way, they should get a phone plug installed on their heads and pore the data in directly without affecting the rest of us.
The most dangerous part of the trip is on the road. Common sense should prevail but people continue to drive while under the influence - watch out for them, or when fatigued. Stop frequently get out, stretch and walk around. don't try to make the next hundred miles when you are too tired to drive.
Thanks for that good information.
