From yesterday, I noticed these while checking on a Catalpa tree stump I was burning, I had to cut the tree down after it was split by high winds a couple of years ago, now the damned thing is sprouting and its a pita to mow around.
I do miss the tree It had beautiful and fragrant flowers in the spring and summer.

Nice shots, Frank.

I have an entire grove of those @##$% catalpas. They are pretty in the spring, but a real pita the rest of the year. Someone, years ago, came through this part of Indiana selling the farmers catalpa trees to grow for fence posts. They were worthless for posts, so they just grew. They are also no good for firewood because they crack, pop, and burn exceptionally fast. At least the big leaves provide some shade. My great-grandfather was a wise and versitle man, but he missed when he planted these things.

Nice shots, Frank. br br I have an entire grove ... (show quote)

LOL
I hated then as a teenager, those damned seed pods would stop a reel type mower in a heart beat and the area I lived in was load with the catalpa's.
