It seems I remember hearing “jar flies” during the “dog days” of practically every summer as a kid. There aren’t enough broods to have one emerge every year during my growing up years are there?

I think there is a brood that emerges every year though it may been a long time since they last emerged?

We are already starting to seem some of the early arrivals. Will have to turn up the TV volume for evening viewing.

The year we went to Kansas to visit my mother the cicadas were out and making noise. We asked my uncle what was making all the racket and he said "what noise?". They were so used to them that they didn't hear them. When I played back the video I made, they asked me what was that noise? lol
