Traveling to Italy and home with Film

Hello Hoggers,
Should I be overly concerned about TSA checks while traveling with 400 ASA B&W and 400 color negative film? Plan on carrying it in my camera bag or carry-on. I have done this many times previously but am now concerned with higher scanning capabilities of the equipment. I don’t want to frustrate the inspector with a request to hand inspect the film if at all possible.
Thanking you in advance for your help and recommendations.

The post dates to 2021 and gives ideas on how to proceed, as well as cautions on how things might exist now in 2024:

I have carried film in a specially-made lead bag which I purchased from B&H (I think). It's always in my carry-on.
Sometimes, if the line wasn't huge, I would ask them to hand inspect. Sometimes they did it anyway and had to test every roll. (Take it out of the boxes.) Each individual scanning won't hurt the film, but the culmination of multiple scannings will - and exposed film as well.
