The main reason that I went to Farmington Bay last week was to check on the heron nesting at the Eccles Wildlife Education Center. Our local power company, Rocky Mountain Power, has installed nine long poles with platforms to allow the GBH a place to nest safe from land based predators. As you can see in #1, the pricy high-level spots have already been taken.

Mating and hatching are well under way as seen in #3.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

OMG, how cool is this?! Never seen a man-made condo community for great blue herons!

They take their bird refuge work seriously here. The bird population is decreasing and they are working to preserve them.

Thanks, Jack, that area usually is very popular with GBH. They hope that the population will increase.

Thanks, Ken, it really helped when things were so dry and land based predators were making their way into the refuge,\.

Wow Mike. I think it's wonderful that your utility company to help construct this Rookery.
Great set
