These are one of our more comical and fun birds to watch with their continual running around and constant swishing of their tails.
And yes, that is their official name...
The Willy Wagtail is insectivorous and spends much time chasing prey in open habitat. Its common name is derived from its habit of wagging its tail horizontally when foraging on the ground. Aggressive and territorial, the Willy Wagtail will often harass much larger birds such as the Kookaburra and Wedge-tailed Eagle. It has responded well to human alteration of the landscape and is a common sight in urban lawns, parks, and gardens.
They are only a small bird but fight well above their weight.
Good photos and great name, Ron.
Great set Ron. It's appearance reminds me of our black phoebe, but ours is a flycatcher.
Nice info too
