My local doctor is once again being taken over by another conglomerate, Northwell Health. Just by coincidence, that company made the local headlines today.
"Northwell Health, set to become Nuvance parent company, fined over $1M for deceptive advertising, AG’s office says."
Suspiciously similar, the largest medical facility, Spectrum, in Grand Rapids MI was recently renamed COREWELL.

I bet there was a fight among board members over naming it Cashwell.
Remember Dr. Welby on TV? I always thought that a good name for a doctor.

I have lived in this same city since 1989 and over the years our local hospital has grown, improved, added services, etc. it has been “bought out”/incorporated into a larger company, at least 2, maybe 3 times. For a while, there were not a lot of changes that affected us patients; however, recently we were notified that the hospital would not allow family doctors to visit/examine patients while in the hospital… but rather a “hospitalist” (I had to fight Apple to let me use that term but it is correct) would attend the patient while in the hospital.
3 negatives from us… my wife is certain that a hospitalist, in another hospital, let her mother and mother-in-law die from not caring or doing anything to keep them alive… and my wife was recently in the ER and, while the ER Dr. seemed fine, we were not positively impressed with the hospitalist in the ER.
Positive… my wife was subsequently in hospital for a week and the hospitalist there was great. He seemed professional, kind/caring, thorough… ordered tests and called in specialists… etc… could not imagine anyone better!
“My opinion” is that it is simple… the corporation owning the hospital want ALL the $ flowing thru them and not have any $ going directly to the family doctors that would visit the patients.
Hospital mergers are the way of the world. It’s all about the m-o-n-e-y!

Private medicine is being taken over by bean counting vulture capitalists who know nothing of health but are only interested in generating cash for themselves. It is ruining medicine gradually but completely. There needs to be a legislative remedy before the only reliable doctors are at academic medical centers.
Talk about medical mergers. During my wife's tenure as a surgical R.N. there were doctors marrying nurses, nurses (male) marrying nurses (femail) and all the goings on in-between. Medical Mergers.
