Yesterday, everything was flighty when I came around. Except for this little beauty, which, to me, resembles a sandpiper. I've consulted my books, but I cannot seem to nail the specimen down....

Solitary Sandpiper is a strong possibility.

The long legs and white spots on wing tips separate it from the Spotted Sandpiper.

You birders seem to know every little nuance of difference between family members, and it just throws me for a loop. Thanks for you input

Google Lens can be your friend. It doesn't nail it 100% of the time, but it's quite good. Download if you have trouble reading the results. I sometimes use this to identify plants and antiques as well.

Nice photos. I agree with DaveO on it being a Solitary SP.

They're all tough for me, especially when you start getting into birds that look like sparrows

A guy ahead of you on this post had a picture showing it as a lesser yellowlegs. Different or a member of the sandpiper family
