I wanted to put half a dozen video files (39GB) onto a 64GB flash drive I just got. Naturally, not one of them would fit onto this empty drive. Then I remembered - exFAT. After formatting it exFAT, the files are transferring without a hitch. I'm sure there's a very good reason for the different formats, but I often want to transfer large files, so I have to remember to reformat the drives.
I was going to put these files onto my Google Drive, but - no good. I deleted virtually everything - still no good. I discovered that even after I delete files from my GD, they are still there, as Trash. After I deleted all the Trash, I had my storage capacity back.

The problem isn't with the flash drive but the FAT32.

Flash drives should be careful who they hang around with.

I run into that kind of limitation with music and video/movie files. Unfortunately, sometimes I have to comprise on the file to get it on a device that works where I am going to have to use the thumb drive.
While, usually, any type of formatting, of the thumb drive, will work on a computer… but say I am putting video/movie files on a thumb drive… I may need to save the file as a lower quality movie/video to put it on a thumb drive that will be playable on a certain Television to play.
If any car, television, etc would play an NTFS formatted thumb drive… that wou be what I would use… but I have to work around the capability of the player I will be using.

Be sure to eject that thumb drive before removing - ExFAT is very vulnerable to corruption compared to a more robust file system such as NTFS.

Yes, I always do. Better safe than sorry.
I came across a little program that tells you what is interfering with a closing or an ejection. I'll see if I can find it.
EDITED: It could be one of these. I just checked, and it's not one of these. I'll look again.
