Can someone point me to a "news" website that doesn't insert any of these words into their headlines:

Desperate, Desperately
Scrambling
Frantic, Frantically
Race (the verb, as in "Congress is racing to...")

It's enough to make one reach for the Valium before breakfast

For news concerning Washington DC try The Hill. They keep clickbait headlines at a minimum.

I don't know. On the front page right now is a headline with "rage."

As in "GOP rages..."

But I'll give it a few days. Everything's relative. Thanks!

Ah, got it. The internet seems to be equally the best and worst invention of the past 50 years.

Very true . It seems people my age (near 80) have gone from 0 to 100.

"Joe Biden has gained an inch in the polls – and Democrats are jubilant" ... today's Guradian. The rest of it is pretty good, non-hysteria wise. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news

What are you talking about? I think you’re still in eighth grade.

And that was in a section clearly marked "Opinion." Thanks!

"Breaking News" is the Today-Byword well worn out... And, scientists are Terrified by new findings. I am a scientist and have never been terrified by results... calm passivity is our observational nature.

During the Clinton era, we had a new word to see daily... Gravatos. News commentators learn new words and wear them out. Well, I doubt they know the meaning! Gravitas definition: seriousness or sobriety, as of conduct or speech. Well better than flip-flop. LBJ was effective... but I h**ed to hear him speak... why did he use stupid analogies?

I am waiting for the Supreme Court to say BREAKING NEWS "P**********l Immunity is The Law of The Land." OK, Biden sends in the assassination squad to k**l the conservatives on the court. "Appointed for life" ends quickly with their acceptance of the Second Amendment. That is a quick winning argument it brings the problem home ...

Linda... alcohol, a rocking chair, old 1940s movies, and a Lap Cat**, will be calming... Humming helps too.
**{I know you and Stella are not purr pals}

"Breaking News" is the Today-Byword well... (show quote)

dpullum says, “ Linda... alcohol, a rocking chair, old 1940s movies, and a Lap Cat**, will be calming... Humming helps too.” To that I would say not if mobility, balance, strength, longevity and quality of life are important considerations.
