Oh Well...

Western New York had beautiful clear skies April 6,7, and 9. April 8 was socked in from Buffalo to Rochester and beyond going east. So many had travelled here, and so many here had such high hopes for great eclipse photos. My son put out huge expense renting equipment and even an airplane so he could get great photos. All we got was dark clouds.

Agreed! I call it the Buffalo curse! I live half hour south of Buffalo but still had a positive experience from my backyard. Didn’t purchase the special filter nor set up my camera, but got these with my iPhone…. The pure darkness was incredible. So glad I stayed out there!

This was my consolation prize, 1/4 sec, f8, ISO 800 during totality. Truck heading for I-90 40 miles east of Buffalo, glow of the edge of the moon's shadow on the horizon.

Nothing wrong with those shots! They depict well the eclipse and are uniquely different from the millions of other photos of the event.

Yes...You posted nice shots ...which are simply a fair witness of what You saw: just different things than other millions hoped to see!
The truck running in the dark is at least as interesting to observ as can be a mainly black image... even if a "fire crown" shows up somewhere in it.
Next time You will get more luck.

Gee, and here I thought that the Buffalo curse had to do with the Buffalo Bills football team.

Do not get discouraged. I have traveled to three eclipses. One was A- rated, B+ rated, and one total clouded out one minute before totality. And the clouded out one was over 6 minutes long and from other unclouded places showed prominences. C'est la vie. Just go for the next one.
