You do know that the "dark" side here means "unknown" instead of "lacking sunlight", correct?
The "dark" side gets sunlight 2 out of the four weeks of the 28 day cycle.

Yeah, I did.

The sun peeked through the clouds so we were able to view the eclipse after all in Dallas. Pretty cool. Also cool was going from dark to light like turning a switch just as soon as a sliver of sun cleared the moon. That was anticipated but the effect was awesome.

We had off-and-on clouds once it started, but we did get to see it get to our 90% for a bit before more clouds moved in.
Completely dark cloud covered now.

That's a shame. The complete eclipse, to me, appeared somewhat different than the photos. I'm not sure exactly how to describe it, but while the sun was completely blocked out, the moon looked like a smaller orb in front of it. Sounds odd, but that's what it seemed like.

Since no one mentioned it, I would like to mention that a favorite music group (Pink Floyd) produced a album entitled Dark Side of the Moon. The songs that were recorded are equally enigmatic.

When the phrase "the dark side of the moon" first came to be used, it was in reference to communication space capsules would lose when having the moon between them and the Earth. As you said, "the Far Side of the Moon" is more accurate. My post took that inaccuracy and did a word play upon it. It was supposed to be humorous. Apparently it wasn't that funny.

Pink Floyd did an album with the same name. Would the Far Side of the Moon have worked for them?

I understand your usage. I didn’t mean to put a damper on it with my ‘far side’ comment.
Glad you got to see the eclipse.

You didn't. I just used your post to explain my original post.
