In life, things often disappoint us. These may be little bumps in the road or major mountains that force us to climb. How we respond to them is what makes the difference. It's life's way of being a yardstick to measure how we are doing on our journey to navigate this crazy world. In the past, I was never very good at riding what I now call the roller coaster. Fortunately, someone finally taught me how to ride it, improving my navigation skills. I was once a master at making a mountain out of a molehill! Today, there are more little bumps and fewer mountains to climb.
A few days ago, life disappointed me. Plans fell through for what might have been a very nice road trip. In the past, I would have handled it much differently, but instead, I picked myself back up and regrouped. I went and worked with my furry little friends, knowing that even when they are being brats, they find a way to lift my mood and spirits. This time was no exception. It became what I call a diamond day!
On my way over, I first spotted Trendy, and while she wasn't in the mood for a session, we visited for a moment, and it helped to lift my mood, knowing she was well. As I crossed to the park in the distance, I saw a squirrel at a tree hole that had always fascinated me. I've wondered if it could be someone's home, and occasionally, I have left a peanut. I quickly approached and saw 2 squirrels and camera ready I watched and was thrilled to what I discovered! My mood immediately lifted, and after more than a half hour, I moved on and went to the playground. As I was working with the various squirrels, I saw in the distance 2 squirrels chasing each other up the tree. I quickly realized that was simply the opening act as I watched and documented them having a very "nice day!" On my way home, the circle was completed as I spotted Trendy again; this time, she gave me a few lovely shots.
Reviewing my day's work, I realized all the special moments I had been blessed to capture. These were more than my typical squirrel shots; they were a beautiful glimpse into a squirrel's life. I would have missed these moments had I gone to the event as planned. Things happen often for a reason, and I am now learning to trust and move on as best as I know. Some days are diamonds, and some are rust. My day had begun very rusty but ended with a field full of diamonds!
I will share a few of the shots as a preview of several upcoming posts!
I hope you enjoy!
You have stated a very valuable lesson. I am glad for you. These are great photos.
Another fun set, Barb. Is Trendy sporting a mustache in #1?

Thanks, glad you liked. I was wondering what that was all about!
Very cute set, Barb! And very well expressed! Maybe Trendy found a feather, is she in a family way?

Thanks for that. I'm not sure what Trendy had and unsure about her condition. One of the squirrels in the other pictures should be for sure!
Great shots of these adorable little creatures
We put out water for them - when the bowl is empty they come to our glass door and kinda knock!
