I've seen several videos on YouTube about upgrading iPods, and it looks interesting. iPods have hard drives, and they somehow manage to survive rough treatment. Still, it would be nice to have an SSD and other improvements. The best iPods for this are the Classic, Gens 5, 6, and 7, with Gen 5 being the best. I have three of these that are working, and I don't want to take them apart. I also have an iPod Touch with a swollen battery. I've opened it up, and I'll probably replace the battery and hard drive.

The problem I'm having with these iPods is connecting them to iTunes and adding or removing the music on them. Obviously, iTunes used to be able to do that, but so far, no luck.

Have any of you replaced the internals of an iPod?

Apple has replaced iTunes with Apple Music, a subscription service. iTunes is still around to sell music, but Macs now come with Music.

There are other programs out there for ones music on the older ipods. Don't know the names but seen a vid on it. My old classic is long gone.

What do you do with three iPods?
I have a 120 gig iPod that contains 12000 songs and still works perfectly. Although whenever I visit an Apple store and mention the iPod to the young "Apple Geniuses" working there they look at me as though I'm from Mars.

I have on set to play music through the house via an FM transmitter. The others sit in a drawer, and I charge the batteries when I remember.

Actually, it's a Nano that plays the music. The three Classics sit in a drawer. If I could change the music on them, I'd use them more. My tiny one - the Shuffle - no longer works, but that's beyond repair.
