In early March we did a tour with DV Wildlife looking for eagles, snail kites, ospreys and what ever else was flying. This was our 5th trip and we spent most of the time with eagles and snail kites. This posting will be only snail kites. These were all shot with at Canon R5 with the RF 100-500 with a 1.4x converter. I tried to keep the ISO at 3200 which worked in most cases and the shutter was at 1/2000.
This young male had just gotten a snail.

Every one of the snail kites in this lake are tagged by the FL DNR to monitor the population.

Nice Shots ! ......these guys still on my bucket list ! ......thanks for sharing
Nice job.. and the last kite, NO BANDS
Very nice. I've never seen nor heard of a Snail Kite. Thanks for the introduction. Interestingly, their claws seem perfectly suited for holding snails...as opposed to grasping and killing mammals, for example. Thanks for posting.
