Sometimes I'll park in the dirt lot in front of or just south of the Nine Gun Battery at the north end of Sandy Hook Nat Rec Area Fort Hanncock. From there I'll walk north to the tip which is the entry to Sandy Hook/Raritan Bay & the entrance towards the Verrazano Bridge/NY Harbor, right to the ocean & back down to the North Beach & back to where parked completing the loop. Back in October this little one followed back south on the beach showing me its ruby colors indicating I wasn't moving fast enough for it. Looks like it is feeding on some type of sand shrimp or.. where the water only reaches during a NE weather event or maybe a new or full moon extreme high tide but unlikely this high up the beach for the later. Anywho, had no idea these Ruby-Crowned Kinglets fed on the beach sand. Hope you enjoy & thanks for looking in.

Great set, Ruby Crowns are so cute, and you captured the ruby crown on one shot

Thanks for looking in. Seen them earlier in the year without seeing the ruby & guessed it was a Vero.
