The reality is that things change. Sometimes, it's for the best, and other times, not so much. Sadly, my apartment complex has lost its beauty. Once awarded for the beautiful landscape, now it's just a nice complex. Having lived here for a long time and seeing its original beauty, I feel a sense of sadness and, yes, some loss. Today, my senses were again insulted as I walked by the pond at the clubhouse and saw this ridiculous alligator. Or is it a crocodile? It has lived in the pond for several years. Once, the pond was crystal clear and had what I think were bright, colorful coy fish. It reminded me of another time and a picture of a cat I once loved to photograph called Puppycat. One day, as I was out trying to get back into my photography (2010!) I spotted her at the pond, gazing in and hoping for a good lunch catch. On the deck, there were also beautiful large baskets of mums. So, I dug very deep into the archives and finally found some shots. Admittedly, it's not the best work, but it serves the purpose! Now, there are deck chairs and no flowers. There is new management and younger people who frankly don't care. There is no pride, and it is simply a job. And then there is the economy.
Times change, so I have learned to see beauty elsewhere. Instead of the lovely flowers I once photographed, I have been led to my crazy little squirrels. It has been an interesting journey!
Hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane!
Sadly, that is the way it is now.
I understand what you are saying, Barb! But I remind myself that change is inevitable, for better or for worse. Some folks/companies only see the bottom line! Sometimes, I feel like I'm being left behind. I'm not entirely sure that's a bad thing.
Cool photos!
Your set makes your point, Barb. The cat steals the show.

Thanks, appreciate that. She was a really neat cat with tons of personality!

For me, too! She (he?) Is a carbon copy of my black and white (tuxedo), Bootsie! I love the pix...
The best way to “counter” the plastic culture is to take matters into your own hands and keep planting beautiful bloomers and color in your front yard so those, passing, by can have a few seconds of [creations delight]!
Yes, they will notice, and sometimes tell you or write a note of Thanks!

Thanks. Puppycat was a blast to photograph. She always knew how to work the camera when she wasn't trying to curl up in my lap.
Life changes, and we just have to keep pushing forward!

Thanks. The tuxedo cat is great. I had a long-haired one named Toffeless, and he was precious. Had him for 17 years!
Very nice set. How lucky we are when we can find nature's beauty right outside our door!
