Absolutely correct. To be clear, I am an independent. I remember years ago when Bob Dole (& I liked Bob Dole) was debating Bill Clinton. Think what you want about Bill but there are some people you don't want to debate simply bec they are masters at that particular craft. Anyhow, Bob Dole said something like "I don't know if cigarettes cause cancer bec I'm not a doctor". Well, then Bill got up to speak and simply said "That dog just simply don't hunt". The house came down in such laughter that it was several minutes before they could get back to debating again. What it appears that happened is that probably the cigarette industry was contributing to Bob's campaign and when confronting the "smoking" issue, one of Bob's advisors told Bob what to say. Obviously, they under estimated how dump and condescending that sounds even though they all know how dumb most of the v****g public is. I'll bet you some of the TV audience actually thought to themselves that Bob was correct in that only a doctor knows whether cigarettes can sometimes cause cancer. Bottom line: Yes, we absolutely do have to have a sense of humor these days. I think it is sad to see some of the demented comments on the attic of people calling others horrible names just bec they have a different opinion than others. I can have conversations with friends that don't agree with me on political issues and we just agree to disagree.........and remain civil and still friends.

That's how my family maintains our relationships. Three of the seven siblings are devout cult members and one may be a charter Q-Anon member. I was an active Pub for decades until trump took the party over.

The masses, v**ers, are easy money. Trump and his followers continue to prove it: In the 1920's and 30's there were discussions and writings with regard to certain quotes; for instance "If your repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will come to believe it yourself" - Joseph Goebbels. Mein Kampf also made similar references.

Before I read your last line, I thought to myself "Joseph Goebbels". Then I read your last line and smiled; yes, you are correct. That was his quote and it's amazing to see how correct that is even today. You used the word "cult". Well said.

Food for thought:

"Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” The source may be argued, but writer and philosopher George Santayana is a popular choice.

Winston Churchill also said, “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” in 1948.

Sadly, we've come a long way and a follow-up thought may be useful in analyzing how many of today's political movements parallel those of the '20's and '30's. In particular, the modus operandi of Alois Schicklgruber's kid is a glaring example. He began writing his blueprints in the 1920's...

lol! The real deal, charismatic-stable-genius-man. John Bolton said recently of the bronzered-up, powdered-up Hog ... "He's too stupid to be a dictator."

He's well on the way.

Most naysayers are undoubtedly too lazy or enthralled with the dangerous shill to learn enough to realize the comparison is quite valid.
