I fell in love with my canon EOSRP I had it for about two years, but due to some financial issues and ended up having to sell it so now I’m looking for a replacement so I can start taking pictures again rather than just using my phone, what would you suggest For both body and lens just to give you an idea one of the things I take pictures of are My wife dance competitions the lighting is always tricky and it’s always a fast pace so I have something that’s good in low light with no flash so I can have the speed at least 250 to stop the action I prefer So that means a bigger aperture Or changing the ISO The RP seemed to handle that pretty good so I’d like another equipment to that I really like the 24 to 105 lens. What would you suggest now?
Thank you
Dan

A few questions,, For starters, what is a Canon EOSRP? Next, Do you have an editing software program such as lightroom or photoshop elements to edit your pictures? I suggest you spend more time learning how the aperature, shutter speed and ISO triangle all come into play. That knowledge will enable you to answer all of your own questions.

Well, you already know you like the EOS RP, right? KEH has a used one graded "excellent" and a Canon RF 24-105 f/4 lens graded "ugly" for around $1200 US total for both.

I am aware of the triangle of exposure. I guess you’d say shutter speed aperture ISO all play a role As an example, if you set your ISO too high, you’ll get a lot of noise If you said shutter too slow You get so I’m quite aware of this and the canon EOS RP Is a digital mirrorless Camera I was a film photographer for about 20 years or so. I really enjoyed it now I’m trying to learn more about the digital spectrum.

Firstly, I see you are new to UHH, so welcome aboard!

Are you answering someone in particular? If so, you should use the reply with quote option instead of just reply.

I don't understand what, exactly, you're asking for? Another camera or digital photography tutorials... or something else?

Sorry about that kind of new to the forum so basically what I’m looking for is opinions on whether I should get a digital camera or not and which one

Digital has surpassed film in every regard, so my answer to that one is digital (... and that comes from a 'never digital' film die hard). Regarding the other, see my previous post on replacing your EOS. Good luck!

Hello and welcome aboard. I still have my Canon EOS RP with the "Eye Focus" update and I use it just as much as my R5. It is that good.
B&H Photo Video has a new Canon EOS RP Mirrorless Camera with 24-105mm f/4-7.1 Lens for $1299.00 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1558260-REG/canon_3380c132_eos_rp_mirrorless_digital.html
Also, Ken Rockwell likes it: https://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/rp.htm (body)
https://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/lenses/24-105mm.htm (Canon RF 24-105mm IS STM)
"The RD 24-105 STM is a great lens: superb optics, small, light and inexpensive. It doesn't get any better than this for a take-everywhere lens."

EOS=canon designation for their cameras
RP=full frame mirrorless body - simplified version with most controls in menus - I have one for FF work which I don't do often, I usually use my R7 cropsensor with long lenses for birds. A good basic FF camera that takes excellent images. I like mine and seldom get envy of the higher end models.
And the RF 24-105 is a very good "walk around" lens for those who are not into birds and don't need the 400, 500 & 600mm lenses like I mostly use.

Go right back to your Canon EOS RP (new or used). You like it and it is still the lightest full frame, and the IQ is fantastic.

I know you may be dead set on full frame, but look at OM and Panasonic 4/3rds. On the OM side, I would look at OM-5 and the 12-45 f4 Pro lens (24-90 in 35mm terms and very sharp). It should be close to your price range and relatively small and lightweight compared to a full frame (the lens will be where the size and weight savings is).

Your "suggestion" is just parrots typical UHH
Fake Wisdom. I have a suggestion for you: Why not google "EOS RP" ? Thaz easy enuf !

You only need to know that an EOS RP fit the OPs needs and budget. No need to pretend mentoring him. Help him replace whats gone.

OTOH this is a pointless thread anywho. OP can just call B&H asking how to replace what he had with budget of $2000. EZPZ. He will then buy either a left over RP and lens, or its current replacement (IIRC, its the R8).
