I hate to be a naysayer, but I've never liked the look. Black backgrounds are very unnatural, so the image looks fake even if it's not.

Thanx!

The bird needs legs/feet/branch. The tulips are very nice.

I agree. I tried leaving a bit in but critters need to Be somewhere.

I love the look, but I think the bird might look better if you could see some of the branch he's sitting on, but still keep the darkened background.

I agree.

I like them but would of took the bar code tag out before taking the photo. Edit work is spot on & hope knees feel better.

Thanx! Just a test.

I think the bird photo would feel more comfortable and natural if you show legs and feet (or what it's standing in/on). As personal preference, I'd leave a bit more background and less pure black because, for me right now the starkness is distracting from the very cool portrait.

The tulip image is delightful. Worth going back and removing the white ID/sales tag + the bit of white between the leaves just above the dirt. The buds look like maybe you did a bit of painting or other edit? The multiple colors are eye-catching!
I think the bird photo would feel more comfortable... (show quote)

Thanx! I agree with critters for the most part. This images are for test purposes. Plus my wife appreciates the info the tag contains.

Love both of your subjects but I do have to side with the minority. I think the sparrow is totally outstanding!
Perhaps the bottom of the bird could be highlighted just a smidge, but the detail in the feathers far exceeds the leaves and petals of the tulips. Excellent work!!!

Maybe the bird image would be better served with a very little bit more light in the background, but I like it as is, with the slightest hints of background. It forces me to look at the bird, and in this case I really like what I saw.

I would like to be able to see the bird's perch a little better but overall it is great. Love the tulips, too.
