I was trying to format a hard drive, and the message below popped up. How helpful! 🤣

Fortunately, there was help available - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-10/security/threat-protection/auditing/event-4670 🤣 🤣

Then I tried to "Convert to primary petition. - "Assertion failure: D:/max/work/projects/dm/ui/volume/convmbrdrivetypefrm.pas"

I guess this drive is no good, although it does have powerful magnets inside.

Try running the command as administrator.

Click on Start, type “cmd” in the search bar. From the program list, right click on cmd.exe and choose “Run as Administrator”. Then type Cd/ and then type format and the drive which you want to format

Either run as Admin or as Admin and go into your account and add Admin authority to your ID. You can also add your ID to the Admin group. Then log back in with your ID (now with Admin authority) and run again. If you give your ID Admin authority; you will have Admin authority until you wish to remove it. I always give myself Admin authority on all my machines since I manage them. That way I don't have to log off and back on again when I need to initiate Admin level actions.

I have always kept my normal login away from administrative authority. If I get hacked, I don't want the hacker to have that. It's not a big chore to switch login to your personal admin account, then back to normal when you're done. In fact my personal admin account has an annoying bright red background so I know when I'm using that account and won't accidentally leave it on.

What ever works best for you. The more security you have the better. As a former systems software engineer for very large companies, I have always had Admin authority on all the machines in the company. I guess I am just used to having Admin authority and use it with a great deal of discretion. Currently all my systems are behind at lease two separate routers and two separate firewalls that I control before hitting my internal network. Corporate support has made me very careful and cautious with regards to internet connectivity and security. The possibility of being hacked is very real and can be very destructive. I respect you caution regarding the dangers of being hacked.

To be clear: I have admin authority on all my machines. I just don't leave it logged in all the time. It's a separate login from the account I normally use.

I'm not a corporation. Just an individual user.

I understand completely and applaud you for your caution. Most internet users don't understand the dangers and how easily they can be hacked.

Right click on Start and the drop-down will have Run as Administrator as one of the choices. It is the easy way to access several processes.

That is what I should of done from the start. Too late now! Computer is 7- years old & always used in admin/owner. Oh well, next computer. This one isn't upgradeable to win 11 anyway which stops getting support in June this year, No more upgrades that keep shutting off my headphones but work when doing a headphones sound test check. Have to delete one of the updates & the headphones work. The updates just make my machine run a little slower with every update. Wonder if Apple/Mac products are like that?
