I don't know if this is something new, but you can become a Walmart Member for just $98 a year. Why would you want to do that? You could save $1,300 a year! I don't have the details, and I'm not interested enough to look.

That's good for the people that may live there.
We don't buy that much at Walmart, Target, et. al.
I guess we just don't buy (need) that much in general...
My savings at Giant Grocery is nice though, but it's a free "membership".

Is it possible that you get free shipping for on-line orders? Amazon Prime makes money on this process.

You MIGHT get a deal on their upcoming subscription fee for " Self checkout ". Gee, WHAT a deal.... Subscribe to bag your own groceries for a fee ! It gets more STUPID every day !

Many stores are eliminating or "Max 10 items" for self checkout.... Shrinkage...
Even if I only have ONE item at a store, I prefer to use a people checkout.
It's extremely rare that I would use a self checkout.

I never use the self checkout. It takes someone's job away, and makes me do the work. More importantly, I would miss the conversation with another human!

I met a guy eating alone in an empty Jack's hamburger joint a few blocks from location of my latest post in the Smartphone area...( Section, Alabama ). Come to find out his wife had just passed and that he was also an ex mayor of a neighboring town... The guy just wanted conversation... Come to find out we had both just bought new KIAs. You NEVER know where friendly conversation will get you. Very rewarding. You should see me in the grocery stores since I do all the shopping now.... MOTOR MOUTH. Actually I was just commenting the previous mention of " Conversation ".

Yes, but they also provide free shipping at a certain price level, I think.

Are you talking about the Scan & Go option in the app, or the self checkout lanes currently in place?

We don’t use store bags - there’s too much plastic trash around as is…

We use the Sam’s Club Scan & Go app and love it - especially around the holidays - bypass the lines and go straight to the door.

How do you figure $1,300 a year savings?

In your dreams! 😁

That's how Walmart plans to lure people to part with $98.

I heard about that, but I didn't see any proof that it was on the way. I guess it's like calling AAA to change a flat tire, and for just $100 more, the guy will let you change the tire yourself. 😋

Could you elaborate? The statement of "In your dreams" is ambiguous.

If one would save $1,300, assuming a 20% savings, wouldn't one have to spend $6,500 there to do so?
($13,000 if only a 10% savings...)
Maybe if one bought groceries there?.....
